Objective

Replace the existing sewer line on the side of Telegraph Hill, the home of San Francisco’s historic Coit Tower.

Challenges

Dismantle the existing sewer main, setup a bypass to keep the system running and install a new 10” DIP main on the vertical face of the hill. This presented a unique challenge in installing the sewer almost vertically instead of the typical horizontal scenario in the ground.
