Runway & Taxiway Reconstruction
Client: San Francisco International Airport
Contractor: Golden Gate Constructors
Project Value: $4.1M

Project Overview:
This project involved the installation of over 3,000 feet of storm drain lines and 28 aircraft-rated structures.
Fontenoy Engineering was also responsible for installing 961 feet of 42-inch reinforced concrete pipe (RCP) at a depth of 12 feet, along with four new precast manhole structures.Â

One of the most challenging aspects of this project was crossing Runway 10L-28R.
A critical drainage system had to be installed within a tight 72-hour window to allow Golden Gate Constructors to repave the runway for air traffic operations to resume and was safely completed ahead of schedule, in 48 hours.

Additionally, 5,000+ feet of old drainage and 30 structures were removed or abandoned to meet airport standards.
